Necron - 3 control point.
Eldar - 1 control points.
Orks - 1 control point.
Dark Eldar - 0 control point.
Tau Empire - 0 control points.

The war grinds into a lengthy stalemate with no one faction able to salvage any worthwhile victories. Chaos remains firmly entrenched while the Imperium continues to throw more and more soldiers into the mindgrinder. The eldar have achieved a minor victory against the forces of Chaos but it will probably amount to nothing in the long run. Meanwhile the necron army continues to march across their homeworld driving the Imperial forces back into space.

Unholy Alliance - Khemet III

280113.M41
Blood Angels vs Necrons / Word Bearers.

Things continue to go from bad to worse for the Imperial forces on Khemet III. The Necrons have made a temporary alliance with the traitor marines of the Word Bearers, and together they have advanced across the planet's surface scouring it of all life.
In the ruins of the ancient Necron dynasty the Blood Angels engaged the enemy, attempting to slow their advance. The Blood Angels initially gained much ground annihilating the unliving machines on their left flank. The rapid deployment of the Word Bearers on the right flank however, forced the Imperial lines to falter and fall back. The Necrons pushed forward and it appears their advance will push the Imperium from the surface if not stopped.

Discovered! - Fangol

240113.M41
Dark Angels vs Imperial Guard

Following up on missing ships in the Fangol subsector, the Imperial Navy discovers two unknown vessels in orbit. Without a hint of communication these vessels open fire, crippling one ship and forcing the other to flee the system. The crippled vessel reacts to deploy its contingent of guardsmen to the surface before being destroyed.
Once on the frozen surface the Imperial forces are attacked by hulking forms in the icy blizzard, and mistake them for traitor marines. Panic sets in and the guardsmen open fire. The Dark Angels return fire, ordered to preserve their secret presence.
Eventually, the escaped navy warship returns with escorts and the Dark Angels are forced to declare a cease fire. The company captain manages to use his diplomatic skills to convince the Imperial commanders that the conflict was a case of mistaken identity. Though angered by the loss of valuable Imperial lives, Warmaster Xerxes brokers an agreement, and the Dark Angels come into the war under his command. Chastized, they work alongside their allies but continue to look for their intended prey among the worlds of the Midas Sector.

Rise of the Machines - Khemet III

240113.M41
Craftworld Iyanden vs Necrons.

Necron activity on Khemet III is increasing. Eldar patrol forces have engaged necrons on at least two occasions while the Imperial forces have also reported firefights with the alien race. Necron attacks appear to be increasing and there have been whispered rumours that the Imperium may seek out an alliance to defeat the machines. But for now the slow advance of the Necrons across the planets surface has the Warmaster worried. Fighting on multiple fronts against an unexpected foe was not on the cards when the crusade started.

Iyanden Rises - Midas Prime

240113.M41
Craftworld Iyanden vs Chaos Space Marines.

The Eldar of Craftworld Iyanden were displeased with the Imperial forces waging war on Midas Prime. It was felt that they had not dealt with the Chaos threat quickly enough. The Farseers of Iyanden felt that it was nessecary to re-address the balance of power on the sector capital. In response, the Eldar launched a strike into the heart of the Chaos strongholds targeting the weaker and less organised warbands.
They began a game of cat and mouse, leading the Chaos marines into isolated groups and destroying them without mercy. They slaughtered the heretics, razed their temples and cut their supply lines. The Eldar now held their first territory in the sector, but it was located in the middle between the followers of Chaos and the forces of the Imperium.

Chaos Strikes Back - Midas Prime

230113.M41
Sons of Tantalus vs Daemons / Word Bearers.

After receiving word that the daemon known as Fateweaver had been sighted on Midas Prime, Warmaster Xerxes dispatched the Sons of Tantalus to investigate. To this end elements of the 4th company snuck behind enemy lines and ran sorties into sites claimed by the Word Bearers. Sightings of daemons were common place but no sign of the hated Lord of Change.
That soon changed when the scouting force was spotted by watchful traitor marines. Their dark apostles summoned aid from the warp and from their mechanicus allies. The Sons of Tantalus were soon fighting a losing battle and forced into an ordered retreat. Then, the foul daemon made his appearence, directing the daemonic hordes. A surviving band of battle brothers found themselves near the creature and opened fire with bolters and plasma. Wounded, Fateweaver shrieked and fled back into the warp. But it was too late for the battle, and the few remaining marines had to retreat and seek aid from the nearby imperial forces.

The Tome of Fire - Bantis V

180113.M41
Sons of Tantalus vs Penitent Angels / Rogue Inquisitior.

The Sons of Tanatalus and the Penitent Angels have been assigned to escort a high ranking inquisitor into the deep regions of the Midas Sector on a hunt for the core worlds of Chaos. First stop was the former world of Bantis V. Once a verdant and green, it now stands as a barren wasteland filled with humanity's ancient ruins. The inquisitor ordered a search of sector 145.367.12 for anything of interest. What was uncovered was a vile book sat atop a pedestal in the heart of the ruined capital. When the Sons of Tantalus reported in, the inquisitor with a single nod to the company master of the Pentitent Angels sealed their fate. The inquisitors servitors and henchment opened fire on and the space marines under his command surged forward or teleported from the orbiting ships. The battle was short lived and the Sons of Tantalus put to the chainsword.
The inquisitor and his associates claimed the vile chaos tome and returned to their ship, leaving a small force behind to claim the planet for the God Emperor.

Minora IV (Imperial 1 / Chaos 1) - Contested.
Fangol (Imperial 1) - Imperial controlled.
Khemet III (Imperial 1 / Necron 1) - Contested.

Necron - 1 control point.
Orks - 1 control point.
Dark Eldar - 0 control point.
Eldar - 0 control points.
Tau Empire - 0 control points.
Tyranids - 0 control points.

The crusade is pushing into territory controlled by the forces of Chaos but the war still grinds along in a deadlock. Many good men and women will die before the Imperium seizes full control of Midas Prime. Meanwhile, the Imperium begins to gain ground on other worlds in the sector, much to the irritation of the Eldar who call for reinforcements to stop the threat they see growing.

Aftermath - Khemet III

190113.M41
Craftworld Iyanden vs Ultramarines.

The Imperium was alerted to the Eldar incursion when in the early hours they detonated several powerful explosives in the southern hemisphere, where it was believed the greatest number of Necron tombs were located. A strike team of Ultramarines were dispatched to investigate and report back. The crusade was already aware of the necron presence below the crust of this world, and the marines went in expecting to find the machines swarming like a disturbed ambull nest. Instead they found themselves engaged with the remnents of the Eldar force.
The Ultramarines set up a make shift barricade and hunkered down until an extraction could be made. The Eldar assaulted from multiple angles but the suprerior training of the Emperor's chosen shone through and each xenos assault was turned back.
After hours of holding the barricade, the Eldar simply retreated back into the webway. The last figure seen was a solitary Farseer who watched the space marines for several minutes before fading away.
The Imperial forces, wary of the necron presence have begun to construct fire bases from which to begin the capture and study of this world.

A Clash of Arms - Minora IV

190113.M41

Grey Knights / Craftworld Iyanden vs Dark Angels.

Two seperate strike teams descended down to the forge world of Minoras IV. One company of Dark Angels sought the source of taint on this world and a hope that it would lead them to one of the Fallen. One company of Grey Knights came to investigate the strange readings that had been recieved from this world. What both found was a huge forge operated by the Dark Mechanicus to manufacture daemon engines and weapons of mass destruction.
Both sides deemed to best to report back to their commanders what had been discovered so that a larger force could be activated to bring the forge works down. On their route back to the drop sites, the two forces detected one another. Wary after what they had seen on this world, neither were prepared to take the risk and opened fire. The Dark Angels had a better position and held their ground in the ruins of a derelict factorum, forcing the Grey Knights to advance across the open ground.
From nowhere the Grey Knights found unlikely assistance. Eldar troops from the Iyanden Craftworld emerged from the webway and attacked the Dark Angels, much like they had on Fangol only days earlier. But even their aid was not enough. The Dark Angels outnumbered their foe and had better equipment, and a more defensible position.
As the last of the Grey Knights fell to the ground dead, the Eldar mysteriously vanished like smoke on the wind. The Dark Angels left them where they fell. Should anyone investigate they would assume it to be the work of Chaos.

Operation: Firesword - Midas Prime

170113.M41
Imperial Guard vs Thousand Sons.

The battle for Redemptus Hive had failed, but else where across the surface of Midas Prime a more important endeavour was taking place. Warmaster Xerxes ordered a planetary assault by the Chroronus XII regiment to take and hold the former Imperial governors palace.
The landings took place with minimal casualties and loss of equipment, and laid the ground work for the nessecary battle. The men and women of the Imperial Guard fought through the hordes of Chaos troops to reach the palace. What they found was a detachment of Thousand Sons led by the villainous Ahriman himself. Lemus Russ battle tanks smashed the defensive wall to dust and laid down covering fire for the troops to charge forward and secure firing positions.
The battle lasted well into the night and both sides suffered from the darkness. The Emperor was with his men though and the might of Tzeentch's faithful was crushed beneath tread and boot. Ahriman escaped, spirited away for sorcerous powers.
Xerxes was pleased. With the Imperial palace secured in the hands of the Imperial forces, he had a planet side base from which to conduct the war.

The War Continues - Midas Prime

150113.M41
Blood Angels / Grey Knights vs Word Bearers / Chaos Daemons.

Imperial forces continue to dig in for the lengthy war to take control of Midas Prime. More and more transports descend to the surface and construction of bastions begin. To bring about a swift end to this invasion, Warmaster Xerxes has called in aid from the Blood Angels and the Inquistion. Their combined firepower was directed to the space port city of Redemptus Hive which lay under the hold of the Word Bearers traitor marines.

Long range artillery smashed the outer walls allowing the loyalist forces entrance. What faced them was a horde of summoned daemons which held them back for many hours. Just long enough for the Word Bearers to form multiple killing fields in the streets and courtyards of the city. The Grey Knights took the fight to the summoned horrors while the Blood Angels moved through the streets engaging the traitor marines.

After three days of intense fighting, it was obvious that the Imperial forces were taking greater and greater losses whilst the enemy seemed to have an unlimited amount of daemonic aid. Inquisitor Butlerian called the Grey Knights back, and without their support the Blood Angels were forced to fall back as well.

The defiled bodies of the space marines were hung from the battlements of Redemptus Hive. A warning that the city belongs to Chaos!

Sector Control I

After the first wave of the war, control of the sector looks like this:

Midas Prime (Imperial 1 / Chaos 1) - Contested.
Minora IV (Chaos 1) - Chaos controlled.
Fangol (Imperial 1) - Imperial controlled.
Khemet III (Necron 1) - Necron controlled.
Voidspar (Ork 1) - Ork controlled.
Illiad (Chaos 1) - Chaos controlled.
Savrip (N/A) - Uncontrolled.
Bantis V (Chaos 1) - Chaos controlled.
Pyros II (N/A) - Uncontrolled.
Infernus (Chaos 5) - Chaos controlled.

Chaos - 9 control points.
Imperial - 2 control points.
Necron - 1 control point.
Orks - 1 control point.
Eldar - 0 control points.

Chaos remains dominant in the sector though the Imperial crusade has gained some headway into making a base of operations. The necrons and orks have started to build up their forces but the eldar need a victory if their desired outcome is to be achieved.

Man vs Machine - Khemet III

110113.M41
Grey Knights vs Necrons.

Concerned by strange signals being transmitted from the supposedly dead Khemet system, Inquisitor Butlerian led a detachment to the surface of Khmet III to investigate. The strange excavations and the alien signal they discovered prooved to be of xenos origin - Necrons! Within hours the Grey Knights were fighting a difficult battle as hordes of unholy machines began to emerge from the tombs and the dust of this world.
The battle was short lived, lasting only a matter of hours. Inquisitor Butlerian managed to escape via Stormraven but his troops were gunned down to a man. Butlerian has considered ordering an exterminatus to eradicate the threat but the possiblity of learning more about the Necrons is hard to pass up. Instead he has begun to exert pressure upon the Imperial commanders to have a larger force assigned to capture Khemet III and destroy the alien threat. Then the Inquisition can study the xenos artifacts.

WAAAAGH of the Orks - Voidspar

110113.M41
Orks vs Sons of Tantalus.

Patrolling ahead of the main Imperial vanguard, the battle barge Desert Wind detected the presence of three ork Roks in orbit above the planet Voidpar. Engaing the enemy, the battle barge destroyed two of the xenos vessels with torpedos within minutes. A stray shot from the third crippled her engines and left her adrift. The surviving Rok plummeted to the surface and impacted on the night side. The presence of orks on a world that the Imperium desperately needed could not be tolerated. The Sons of Tantalus deployed via drop pod near the crashed ship and started to engage the enemy.
Thankfully few orks had survived the crash but those who had were the big and nasty ones. Combat was difficult as the night made it hard to detect the enemy except from the flashes of gunfire. The orks adapted quickly and the space marine force began to take heavy casualities in both men and equipment. Once both sides entered assault range the Sons of Tantalus performed better but the orks vastly outnumbered them.
The marines were forced to retreat from Voidspar and from the system. Upon reporting the situation to the Imperial forces, Warmaster Xerxes criticised the chapter for allowing the orks to gain a foothold on Voidspar, further souring the relationship between the two forces.

Cold War - Fangol

110113.M41
Dark Angels vs Craftworld Iyanden

The Dark Angel base on Fangol's third moon came under attack by a raiding force of Eldar. Emerging from under cover of a heavy snowstorm, the wraithbone constructs assaulted and walked through the outer defences. The Dark Angels then engaged the xenos attackers and halting their advance.
Over several hours both sides lost numerosu casualties and the battle lines ebbed and flowed around the space marine compound. The Eldar however had the advantage as their constructs resisted the freezing temperatures better. But it was not to last.
Despite the harsh weather conditions, the Dark Angels recieved ariel support from their battle barge Vengeance. The Eldar found it difficult to combat both the ground forces and stormeagle aircraft, and were forced into a fighting withdrawl to their webway portals.
The Dark Angel leadership is unsure why the Eldar attacked their base but the ways of the xenos are unfathomable. The reason will probably be made clear one day but for now remains unknown.

First Strike - Midas Prime

110113.M41
Imperial Guard / Space Wolves vs Chaos Space Marines

Warmaster Xerxes first order upon the Crusade reaching the Midas sector was to attempt to recapture Midas Prime, the former capital of the sector. By holding that it would give the Crusade a fixed base of operations from which to launch the recapture of the sector.
Below on the surface rival warbands of traitor marines were already waging their own private little war. When the Imperial transports began to descend from orbit, the traitors retreated into their strongholds and prepared themselves for the assault. They might go down but they would not go without a fight, and the Imperial troops would pay a heavy cost.
Thousands of Imperial guardsmen with assistance from the Space Wolves assaulted the strongholds. Heavy fighting spread across the planet but the the Imperials were unable to destroy the forces of Chaos. Already predictions indicate that the war on Midas Prime will become a long and drawn out affair. A situation that Xerxes cannot allow to happen.

Campaign Background

Background:

A thousand years ago a valuable corner of the Imperium deep in the heart of the Ultima Segmentum vanished. Over the course of several days it was consumed by an expanding warp storm. No one escaped and any ships attempting to evacuate were never heard from again. The surrounding sectors suffered as they had to take up the slack of the Imperial tithes.

Now, on the cusp of the 42nd millennium the warp storm has begun to dissipate and the worlds of the Midas Sector are returning. The Imperium casts its eyes upon that region of space once again. The forces of Chaos are heavily entrenched already and waiting. The leaders of the Necron dynasties seek to recover relics from a fallen tomb world long forgotten, and alien eyes look upon these new worlds as targets to be destroyed or consumed!

The word has been given and you must lead your faction to victory and lay claim to the Midas Sector. Good luck!
