Necrons Launch Orbital Invasion! - Khemet III

300413.M41
Necrons vs Ultramarines.

Khemet III has seen a brief lull in the combat as the Necrons forces recover from their defeat against the Ultramarines several days earlier. The Imperial forces have used that time to bolster defences and install much needed defensive capabilities.

In the early hours of this morning all contact with the orbiting Imperial fleet stopped after a brief burst of static. High above the planet a huge fleet of Necron ships had materialised into real space and oblittered any force that could stop them. Spreading out above the Imperial installations, these ships bombared the surface with arcane weaponry.

After hours of hiding from the orbital bombardment the Imperial Guard and Ultramarines emerged to find the Necrons launching a new offensive. Legions of mechanical warriors teleported to the surface and fighter craft swooped down from the upper atmosphere. Fear and panic began to spread through the lines but legendary chapter master Marneus Calgar stepped onto the battlements and gave a heroic speech to bolster their resolve.

The Imperial Guard held the line while the Ultramarines surged forward to combat the advancing menance. Calgar himself took up the mantle of the outposts quadcannon, directing it's impressive fire into the swarms of fighter aircraft. Despite the sheer number of warriors deployed it was not enough to defeat the Emperor's chosen. Twelve after they first appeared the Necrons teleported back to their fleet.

Khemet III remains locked under the largest Necron fleet seen in decades, but the surface is controlled by the space marines!

Sector Control XV

"Always endeavour to fight the enemy on your own terms. If you outnumber the foe use reserves to break through when the enemy's overstretched lines collapse. If you are outnumbered then concentrate your forces so that the enemy can fight only your best troops. If you are powerful at close quarters then engage in dense terrain where your advantage will prove greatest. If you are superior at long range then attack along an extended front. Remember always, however, that a commander who puts his faith in heavy weaponry will be easily outmaneuvered and a commander who relies on close combat without adequate support will lose his force to disciplined fire. No one has ever won a battle who failed to take advantage of his enemy's weakness, or take heed of his own."

The Liberation of Processor Station Epsilon - Minora IV

250413.M41
Imperial Guard vs The Cleaved.

Processor Station Epsilon was a lightly defended factorum complex overlooked by many on Xerxes staff. They had their sights on capturing much larger and more vital targets. It was only when a report from a valkyrie recon squadron reached his desk that Xerxes saw the strategic importance of this site, something the traitor forces had overlooked. Capture of this site would open up avenues of attack previously closed to the Imperial troops.

A detachment of the Cadian XXXV were ordered to capture and hold the facility at all costs. The factorum was held only by a small force of marines from the warband known as The Cleaved. They had troops but little in the way of dealing with the leman russ formations that the Imperial forces had brought with them.

The battle was brief with no close combat. The Emperor was on their side as The Cleaved suffered terrible casualties and bad luck. Terminator squads teleported into the wreckage of tanks or into solid ferocrete walls. By days end the Aquila flew above Processor Station Epsilon.

A Twist of Fate - Rakdos

250413.M41
Craftworld Iyanden vs Blood Angels

The Blood Angels have returned to Rakdos in greater numbers and deploy to assist the local PDF and Space Wolves in holding the line against the Tyranids. While those same forces engage the oncoming horde, the Blood Angels deploy at the heart of Archelon's forces, right into the spawning pools. The Blood Angels deal considerable damage and halt the development of ground forces for a time.

As the Blood Angels prepare a quick extraction warp portals open and Eldar troops emerge. For reasons unknown the Eldar of Iyanden strike not at the Tyranids but at the Blood Angels. The Farseers direct their forces with some future insight. By this time however the space marines were depleated in manpower and can only hold them at bay with a concentration of heavy weapon fire. Quickly the make their evacuation and leave the Eldar this tiny portion of the planet.

The Eldar quickly set to work finishing what the Blood Angels had started. Though diminished by the Shadow in the Warp, the Farseers tug at the strings of fate at this site seeking some as yet unknown future for the planet.

The Legacy of Fire - Fangol

250413.M41
Dark Angels vs Grey Knights

The Dark Angels have had a small presence in the Fangol system since the start of the crusade but this has been reduced as they have been requested to fight elsewhere. Now the chapter returns to the system to battle the traitor forces present with assistance from the newly returned Grey Knights.

Shortly after landing the demeanour of the Grey Knights changes and the Dark Angels nervously prepare for what is to come. When the captain of the Grey Knights approaches the company master of the Dark Angels with orders from Lord Inquisitor Butlerian to divulge all information the chapter has on the whereabouts of the Pentitent Angels, a successor of theirs, and what they know of something called the Tome of Fire, things turn sour. The inquisitional forces refuse to believe the Dark Angels lack of knowledge and threaten sanctions if they are not forthcoming. The company master makes a fateful decision and orders his men to attack.

The two forces clash in the ice wastes of Fangol. The Dark Angels fight to preserve their chapter and bring their formidable plasma weapons to the fore. The fight is brief and one sided. The Dark Angels make certain that there are no survivors and scuttle their battle barge. The company master reports back that they took heavy fire from traitor batteries and were killed before making planetfall.

Battle Lines Falter - Minora IV

250413.M41
Grey Knights vs Chaos Daemons / Word Bearers.

The forces of Chaos are losing ground slowly and steadily to the Imperial advance. Worlds once tightly held in Kor Aven's iron grasp are slipping away like sand. Unwilling to lose more ground he had dispatched ships to the Minora system to bolster the Dark Mechanicus. He cannot allow this world to fall into enemy hands.

The return to the Midas sector by Lord Inquisitor Butlerian has been met with a mix of fear and excitement by Xerxes' advisors. Butlerian has spent several days in seclusion with the Warmaster and many fear that the Inquisition has taken a strong hand in the direction of the crusade. After their deliberations, Butlerian ordered a company of Grey Knights to Minora IV in support of the ground forces.

Their objective was the factory complexes churning out munitions and daemonically possessed war machines for the Word Bearers. That same chaos legion were laying in wait for just such an attack. In the dead of night the forces of the Ordo Malleus transported to the service. The dark apostles prayed to the gods and opened warp portals through which a multitude of daemons ermerged. The Grey Knights fought as heroes of legend against the daemons but it was the Word Bearers who were their undoing. Weakened from the close quarters combat the Grey Knights were forced back by a withering hail of bolter fire. The Grey Knights have fallen back to secure points on the Imperial lines to regroup before trying again.

Operation: Hammer Fall - Khemet III

220413.M41
Ultramarines vs Necrons.

Agents of the Ordos Xenos and the Deathwatch have reported to Warmaster Xerxes that the alien threat in the Khemet system cannot be left alone for much longer. With Midas Prime now squarely in Imperial hands the time has come for something to be done. The Ultramarines stepped up and offered to launch an assault on the Necrons while Imperial troops redeployed to the surface once more. Xerxes argued that other more pressing concerns drew his attention but he could not risk refusing the Inquisition at this time so he acquiesced and dispatched the space marines.

The battle barge Honour of Calth opened fire from low orbit oblitereating much of the Necron forces and buildings. In the confusion a drop pod assault was launched into their command modules. The Necrons rallied quickly and organised a front against the Ultramarines. Continued orbital bombardment smashed legions of the warriors, barges and defence platforms. Eventually the Necrons were forced to retreat into the aether leaving most of the northern continent in Imperial hands.

Imperial troops landed and began to fortify positions again against the inevitable return of the Necrons as well as possible attacks by the Eldar of Craftworld Iyanden.

Midas Prime Recaptured - Midas Prime

180413.M41
The Cleaved / Orks vs Blood Angels.

It has taken almost three months but finally Warmaster Xerxes' troops have secured Midas Prime. This has come just in time as shipments of weapons and armour has all but ceased coming from the Persueus Sector. The Imperial Guard have pushed forward annihilating any enemy resistance and now only a single bastion fortress remains in the hands of Chaos.

Reports from the ground indicated that a warband known as The Cleaved still held this fortress and called out Kor Aven's name. Mephiston of the Blood Angels approached Xerxes and offered the hand of his chapter to strike at the rotten heart of Chaos here and cut it out for good. Xerxes accepted and the Blood Angels deployed for war.

Striking from the skies to the compound of the Cleaved, the Blood Angels quickly set to the task given to them. Within minutes the traitor's daemon prince master had been sent back into the warp. It was then that the Cleaved released a surprise element, ork mercenaries. But by then they were not a threat for the Blood Angels who readicated all resistence, putting traitor and xenos alike to the chainsword.

Finally the battle for Midas Prime was over. There is no time for respite however, as new resources are needed if the crusade is to continue. Xerxes turns his eye to the corrupted forge world of Minora IV and orders his generals to take back from the Dark Mechanicus and get it's foundries working for the glory of the God Emperor!

Tau Empire Retaliates - Urbis III

180413.M41
Tau Empire vs Craftworld Iyanden / Dark Eldar.

It has finally been revealed what the Eldar of Iyanden were rounding up the human colonists up for, to trade to their dark cousins were aid in the war against the Tau on Urbis III. Paid in flesh the dark eldar were all too willing to harrass the Tau though fight a war they would not.

The war did not go well from the outside. The Tau had fortified their positions with heavy suits and hammerhead tanks, and had been expecting the Eldar to try again. As night fell on the fifth day of the war, the dark eldar led their craftworld breathen against the Tau command post, unaware that Tau technology had overcome the disadvantage of fighting at night. Railguns and ion cannons tore through the eldar as they crossed the ridge and crept through the blasted ruins.

By the time the dark eldar lent their firepower to the assault it was too late and the Eldar lines collapsed. Shrieking with glee the Dark Eldar snatched a handful of Tau and Eldar alike before fleeing back into the webway. The Craftworld Elder fled as well unable to stop the advance of the Tau.

The Defeat of Volistad

Volistad has fallen to the orks, and the crsuade to free the Midas Sector begins to falter. In the Imperial hierarchy there are those who now look unfavourably upon Warmaster Xerxes for not doing enough to halt the orks on this world.

Beauty vs the Beast - Volistad

150413.M41
Orks vs Tau Empire.

As part of their expansion into the Perseus Sector the Tau have sent a force to take the Imperial capital at Volistad, unaware of it's occupation by the orks.

Even as their first troop transports hit the dirt the Tau found themselves under attack by a massive horde of the greenskins, and it was only by sheer luck that they held them off long enough for the remaining force to make planetfall. The Tau found themselves surrounded and it was only the superior weapons on their braodsides and riptides that prevented the orks from overwhelming them.

For two days they fought against the horde and then everything went wrong. The Tau were expecting to face Imperial forces and perhaps space marines, not orks, and especially not a major airforce. The skies filled with flights of ork aircraft whose guns ripped through both firewarriors and battlesuits with ease. A few were shot down but not enough. As the Tau heavy artillery turned to the new threat the orks surged forward and overran the infantry.

With the Tau defeated a mighty battle cry was heard and the orks surged over their dead foe and smashed into the last holding of the Imperium on Volistad. By end of day the planet was firmly in green hands.

Altansar Spotted In Perseus Sector!

Wraithships in the colours of Craftworld Altansar have been spotted throughout the Perseus sector. These vessels refuse to answer communications and vanish swiftly if approached. Nothing is known of their reasons for being in the sector and readings of the Emperor's Tarot reveal only that these Eldar are friend and foe.
Xerxes warns his generals and local planetary governors to be watchful for so far the Eldar have prove to be a major threat in the sectors dominated by the great crusade.

Urban Pacification - Urbis III

140413.M41
Tau Empire vs Dark Angels.

The Tau Empire continues it's attempt to conqour Urbis III. The Eldar seemingly content to control a single corner of the northern continent watch with uncaring eyes, and the Tau have, for now, left them alone. The Tau prosecute their campaign against the Imperial PDF slowly taking city after city.

A detachment of Dark Angels dispatched from the Midas sector have arrived with resupply ships and fought their way through the orbiting ships to deploy ground forces. The intitial battles for control of Hive Imperialis and the main space port went in the favour of the Imperium but it swiftly turned several days into the war. The Tau reinforced their positions with hammerhead tanks and battlesuits which the space marines found difficult to remove.

Unable to force their heavy armour out and with little hope for reinforcements for some time the Dark Angels were forced to retreat to the Imperial command site at Refinery XXII. Without the support of the space marines the Tau were able to push the Imperial forces out of the equtorial hive cities.

Meanwhile the Eldar round up the human civilians into underground camps and no one knows what their next move will be.

The Perseus Sector has come under attack by both the tendrils of Hive Fleet Archelon as well as the expansionist Tau. Will the Imperium save this vital chain in the crusades supply line or will Xerxes crusade crumble and fail?

Third Phase Expansion - Urbis III

110413.M41
Tau Empire vs Craftworld Alaitoc.

The Tau Empire has expanded into the borders of the Perseus Sector, and their first target has been the hive world of Urbis III. Initial overtones were met with violence from the surface defence guns. In response the Tau launched an assault on the northern defences and the largest hive, capturing it within days. The planetary defence forces were swiftly overcome and the hive now lies in Tau hands.

Two days later the Tau found themselves under fire from forces previously unknown. Whatever their reasons, the Eldar of Alaitoc had chosen to intervene on behalf of the human population. Geared for combat with the Imperium, the Eldar were ill prepared to engage an enemy like the Eldar. The Eldar eradicated the ground forces and then lay claim to the hive city. In orbit the Tau commanders revised their strategy to add this world to their Empire.

Against the Hive - Rakdos

110413.M41
Imperial Guard / Space Wolves vs Tyranids.

The call for help from the Rakdos Planetary Defence Forces has been heard. A company of Space Wolves translated into the system and quickly began to deploy in support of the beseiged PDF. As the defenders fight to keep the tyranids from their walls, the Space Wolves launch daring raids into the heart of the swarm to slay as many synapse creatures as possible in hopes of slowing the advance.

The tide of the war turned when Amarok began to evolve it's larger monsters to combat the raids and to break through the heavy defences of the Imperial Guard. The Space Wolves pulled back to assist in the defence but their forces were spread thinly and ultimately proved too few. The tyranid organisms surged through the lines pushing them back into the heart of their territory. The defenders need desperate help but numerous bioships in the system and the psychic dampening of the hive mind have prevented any word of their plight from getting out.

The Plague Lord Cometh - Pyros II

110413.M41
Chaos Daemons / Death Guard vs Dark Angels.

Far from the Imperial front lines above Midas Prime and Minora IV, the fleet of the Dark Angels travels to the Chaos held world of Pyros II. The chapters Librarians have sensed the arrival of a dark power which some believe to be one of the Fallen.

Descending to the desolate world below the chapter finds itself facing a huge horde of daemons summoned forth by Death Guard sorcerers, a legion previously unknown in the Midas sector. The foul servants of Nurgle are working to uncover a relic of sorts from the ruins of ancient shrine. The word is given and the Dark Angels engage the enemy before them. After two hours of heavy fighting the dark power sensed weeks earlier manifests on the battlefield as the infamous Typhus, herald of Nurgle. The Dark Angels present, even with terminator support from the orbiting battle barge, are no match for both Typhus and his army of daemons. Retreating to their barge, Typhus takes the relic and returns to the warp.

When word reaches Warmaster Xerxes some days later, his advisors grow concerned that the sector may be plunged into a traitor civil war as Word Bearers, Black Legion and now Death Guard vie for control of the inner sector worlds.

The Despoiler Arrives - Minora IV

100413.M41
Black Legion vs Sons of Tantalus.

With Midas Prime appearing to be in the grip of the Imperium, the Sons of Tantalus turn their attention to the corrupt forge world of Minora IV. With the disruption to supplies coming from the Persus Sector, it is vital that this world be returned to the hands of the Cult Mechanicus.

Deploying from orbit, the chapter attacks and neutralises numerous generators powering the Dark Mechanicus weapons and defence systems. Regrouping the 4th company leads the assault on the main factorum complex. The battle seems well in hand until from within emerge a large force of Black Legion marines led by the infamous Abaddon the Despoiler! With news of the master of the Black Legion present, a force of terminators and aircraft are dispatched down to contain and destroy if possible.

Abaddon's mastery of war proves too much however, and the chapter loses many good battle brothers. It is a gauling defeat for the Sons of Tantalus who have already suffered greatly under this campaign, and they are forced to retreat. Word is quickly dispatched back to Warmaster Xerxes that a greater threat than Kor Aven walks the worlds of the Midas Sector!

The Final Push Begins - Midas Prime

100413.M41
Blood Angels vs Black Legion.

The Word Bearers may have retreated further into the sector close to their daemon world, but the Black Legion still fight a holding war against the Imperial forces on Midas Prime. With the Imperial forces seemingly being so close time and time again to defeating the traitor forces Warmaster Xerxes has demanded that his generals do whatever they have to in order to retake the planet. Failure is not an option.

While the regiments of the Cadian XIII and the Mordian XXIV lead the strike against the remaining bastions of chaos on the planet, the Blood Angels deployed from orbit to strike at the former librarium, which the chapter's librarians sensed was the reason for the Black Legions invasion. Smashing their way through the initial defenders the astartes located the main force in the central ruins attempting to extract information from a damaged system core. After hours of fighting through the collapsing structure it became apparent that the Blood Angels would not get their own hands on the data so the decision was made to destroy the data core and deny it to the enemy. One well timed grenade ended the traitors plan.

Both sides retreated from the site of battle. However the war did not go well outside. Despite throwing thousands of men and women into the meat grinder, the Imperium was unable to breach the last fortresses of the Black Legion.

Wargames - Arathis Secundus

900413.M41
Ultramarines vs Sons of Tantalus / Demiurg Mining Consortium

Due to the increasing threats faced by the cruade in the Midas Sector, coupled with the potential loss of Volistad to the Orks, the Ordos Xenos has permitted the hive worlds of the Perseus Sector to open trade negotiations with a Demiurg settlement in the nearby Veldrane Sector. Though part of the expansionist Tau Empire, the Demiurg are open to trade with anyone.

Meanwhile on a frozen moon above Arathis Secundus, the Ultramarines and their successors, the Sons of Tantalus enter into a "friendly" wargames to better prepare for the threats that now face both sectors. In one such game the Demiurg operated alongside the Sons of Tantalus in mutual partnership. The Ultramarines won all the engagements much to the chagrin of their successors. However, their presence in the last few days has meant that to those eyes watching the system that the Imperium is more than capable of defending it from aggressors.

Expeditionary Failure - Minora IV

070413.M41
Tau Empire vs Dark Mechanicus.

The retreat of the Midas warp storm has opened up a whole new area of expansion for the Tau Empire. Scout ships skirt the edge of the Warp and seek potential targets for conversion. However on this occasion the Warp bites back. A single scout ship is forced into real space above the surface of Minora IV where it crashes through the orbital defence platforms and onto the surface of the ancient forge world.
As the Tau survivors emerge, they are confronted by the horrors of forbidden technology as the Dark Mechanius forces awaken and seek to scavenge technology previously unknown to them. Reduced in number the usual Tau battle formations failed to halt the heretical advance. The battle was brief and by the end of the day the fallen forge world was studying the xenos weaponry and armour.

The Imperial troops on Volistad suffer terribly under the continued Ork assault. The war against Chaos in the Midas Sector has prevented much needed relief from reaching them. As Imperial lines are overrun by shocktroops and gargants, the population can only turn to their faith in the Emperor for comfort.

Betrayal - Fangol

040413.M41
Black Legion vs Chaos Daemons.

Kor Aven dispatched a company of Black Legion to Fangol in the aftermath of the daemonic incursion. He sought the source of the mysterious signel generated from its cold surface. What they found there pleased him greatly but the traitor marines could not be allowed to spoil the surprise he had planned for his enemies. Conjouring a mighty host of daemons Kor Aven sent them against the Black Legion. Their company was torn apart and their souls offered up the dark gods.

Meanwhile, agents of Kor Aven began the process of uncovering the ancient Mechanicus facility from its icy tomb.

Orcs vs Craftworld Iyanden / Dark Eldar.

When not engaging in war the orcs on Voidspar have begun strip mining the planet in the vercinity of their crashed roks. The minerals and metals recovered are being put to ue in repairing the ships and building new weapons of war. However in recent days the orks have started unearthing strange and alien structures. The eldar fear that these are necron tomb complexes and the mining operations will awaken the forces within.
Through their joint association with the harlequins, the farseers of Iyanden have sought the assistance of their dark brethren to stop the orcs. Halt the ork mining operations and the dark eldar can take as many of the greenskins as they wish as slaves.

When the eldar warhosts descended upon the mining sites they found they worst fears come true. Amongst the dark monoliths and green glowing runes, the orks had uncovered a necron portal device. All thoughts of ork eradication were cast aside and it became more important to recover the necron technology.

The battle lasted many hours and thoughout the necron device began to power up. Before either side had realised it, the device erupted in an emerald flare and a legion of necron warriors stepped foot upon the soil of Voidspar.
